HireNeighbour

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 October 2026

HireNeighbour is getting ready to launch a way for Australians to rent storage space from their neighbours. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and our waitlist, why we collect it, and how we look after it.

This policy covers our coming soon website and waitlist only. We will update it before our app launches to cover the full service.

Who we are

In this policy, “HireNeighbour”, “we”, “us” and “our” means the business that runs hireneighbour.com.au. You can contact us about privacy at any time at [email protected].

What we collect

When you join our waitlist, we collect:

  • your email address
  • your suburb or postcode
  • whether you want to store items or list a space
  • the date and time you signed up, and whether you confirmed your email

We don’t ask for your name, phone number, address or payment details.

Like most websites, our website host and security provider also automatically collect technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view. They use this to deliver the website and protect it from attacks.

You don’t have to give us your details. But we need an email address to add you to the waitlist, so you can’t join anonymously.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • confirm your email address when you sign up
  • tell you when HireNeighbour launches in or near your area
  • send you information that suits you, depending on whether you want to rent storage or list a space
  • understand which areas have the most interest, so we can plan where to launch first
  • answer you if you contact us

We won’t use your information for anything else unless you agree, or the law requires or allows it.

Emails from us

We only email you after you confirm your signup by clicking the link in our confirmation email. If you don’t confirm, we won’t add you to our list.

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, we will stop emailing you within five working days. You can also email us to be removed.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it with the service providers who help us run the website and waitlist:

  • Brevo, which sends our emails and stores our waitlist
  • our website hosting provider, which stores the website and a backup copy of form entries
  • Cloudflare, which delivers our website quickly and protects it from attacks
  • Google Fonts, which supplies the fonts on our website. When your browser loads them, Google receives your IP address.

We may also share information if the law requires it, for example to respond to a court order.

Sending information overseas

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia:

  • Brevo stores data in the European Union (France, Germany and Belgium)
  • Cloudflare and Google may process technical information in the United States and other countries where they operate

We choose providers that have strong security and privacy practices.

How we keep it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Access to our waitlist is limited to the people who need it to run HireNeighbour.

We keep your information while you are on our waitlist. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details, we will delete or de-identify them, unless the law requires us to keep them.

Cookies

Our coming soon website doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies. Our form and security tools may use small, essential cookies so the website works properly and stays secure.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please email us first at [email protected]. We will look into it and reply within 30 days.

If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when our app launches. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
